On July 3–14, 2018, our friends from CYT San Diego led a musical theatre workshop open to the public in Changning District. Well-trained professionals gave students of three different age groups a genuine taste of the American art form with activities such as breaking down a scene, team games, and stage design.
Nearly 30 primary and secondary school teachers were in attendance. The students learned and articipatedparticiapte in the activities themselves, and found an appreciation for the pedagogy of the four music theatre educators. The warm respect with which they treated the craft, their students, and each other was the most inspiring takeaway from the event, applicable not only to teaching but also to life in general. It is a path towards the greater good and a better self.
