Junie B. Jones

On August 14, Singing Hearts’ young actors brought the spirited six-year-old Junie B. Jones to life at Sunshine Theater, capturing the chaos and charm of her first-grade adventures in a tender, growth-focused production.

Big Lessons from a Little Star
Guided by Broadway veteran Janie Russell Cox (100+ productions) and assistant director Claire Bassett—a multilingual “big-sister figure”—23 children braved summer heat during a 10-day rehearsal sprint. Cox honed their expressive physicality, while Bassett infused sessions with creative games and art, nurturing both skills and joy.

Parental Reflections
The show’s whimsical storytelling moved families, highlighting children’s artistic growth and resilience. Parents praised its message: embracing imperfection, validating emotions, and celebrating small victories. As one attendee noted, “This wasn’t just theater—it was a lesson in nurturing young hearts.”

Tiny Cast, Big Impact
From exaggerated frowns to triumphant grins, the cast’s authenticity shone. The production underscored Singing Hearts’ ethos: every stage, no matter its size, becomes magical when fueled by passion and playful courage.
