This summer, Singing Hearts partnered with the Changning Children's Palace for its fifth annual summer program. Forty young performers from 13 primary and secondary schools in the Changning District, alongside the Singing Hearts Children's Choir, turned the Sunshine Theatre into a magical stage, bringing the film’s iconic characters to life—from the narcissistic yet endearing lion Alex to the energetic zebra Marty.

Despite the sweltering summer heat, the children participated in a 10-day intensive training camp. Through their hard work and shared dedication, they grew closer—transitioning from strangers to developing a remarkable rapport. Robert Albright, a passionate mentor from the United States, used unique improvisational teaching methods to unleash the children’s theatrical potential, allowing each child to shine in their own unique way.

On the evening of July 12th, as the curtain rose, the audience witnessed not only an amazing musical performance but also the children’s personal breakthroughs through teamwork, as they wove their growth and transformation into every moment of the show. More than just a brilliant musical, this performance was a journey of growth written by the children with passion and perseverance—a testament to their transformation through courage and trust.
